Heritage tour in Luton | Luton Council

You don’t often get asked to go on a historic tour around town where you’ve been working and studying at for almost 20 years. I live in Houghton Regis which is literally 15 minutes drive away but I spend majority of my time in Luton. So when Lilly from Luton Council asked if I wouldn’t mind documenting the tour I couldn’t say no.

It was a fantastic and beautiful day,  we met in Luton Town centre and we made our way to High Town, then to Bury Park were we visited the first purpose built mosque in Luton. I was very excited to visit this glorious building for the first time ever. Then we went back to town centre where one of our tour guides showed us some of the iconic hat factories or their remains. Back in the day Luton was a capitol of the hat industry so it was interesting to learn some facts about this subject. Then we visited the St Marry’s Church and we made our way back to the town centre where we heard stories about local shops and possible plans for the future. We ended our tour in a newly built pocket park on Bute Street.

Here are some photos from the tour.
