Hemantika Festival 2022
I was very pleased when Sujata Banerjee Dance Company approach me again about photographing their Hemantika Festival. After last year’s success they decided to spread the event over 3 days in 3 different venues in London 3 weekends in a row. The festival is well-established and has been running since 2016.The festival always features unique collaborations between dance styles, students and renowned dancers from all over the world.
The Sujata Banerjee Dancy Company (SBDC) was founded in 1985 by artistic director and choreographer Sujata Banerjee. SBDC is at the forefront of promoting and developing South Asian dance in the UK and internationally.
I loved watching the dancers, the music, their moves and whole atmosphere was very mesmerizing. From photographers point of view all shows were very challenging to capture. Light was extremely low, or very harsh at times, dancers were moving fast (not ideal in low light conditions especially if you are not able to use the flash), but thankfully I know what I am doing and was able to adjust my settings accordingly.
