Beacon & Mother and a child Launch | As you change so do I | The Culture Trust Luton
If you can dream it you must do it… An iconic sign that welcomes you to Luton has been with us for a while and it’s such a great addition to the Cultural Quarter. On the night when it was launched there was a projection happening on the wall of Bute Street building. it was a Mother and a child project which I photographed for Scott King. I wasn’t meant to be working on this project but some unforeseen circumstances followed me to become the main photographer. With a quick telephone conversation with Scott and some brainstorming with Jackie Harding who was assisting me at the time, we came up with some great images. The idea was to photograph local Mothers with their children in a very specific pose, no smiling, no expressions. Little that the organizers knew I was actually 12 week pregnant at the time so the project started feeling very personal at the time.
